Boundless Love in the Face of Genocide: A Conversation with Dr. Elana Sztokman
Author of In My Jewish State
🎙️ Live on Conversations with Love
In May of 2025, during yet another so-called “ceasefire” in which 300 more Palestinian families were killed, Israeli anthropologist Dr. Elana Sztokman reached her breaking point — and her voice rang out clearly:
“Israel is committing genocide. For Jews to face this is really complicated, but we have to do it.”
With a lightness of being only a truly loving, open heart can sustain in the face of war, Dr. Sztokman empowers us to find courage: to make peace within ourselves, to see our shared humanity, and to take a stand to stop this terrible war — now.
Her book, In My Jewish State (published January 2025), chronicles her journey from indoctrination to unlearning, from “us versus them” to humility, inclusion, and love. Through first-hand accounts of the October 7, 2024 events and her work with Palestinians, she reminds us:
“We all want to love and be loved in return. The biggest lesson for me has been learning to look beyond what I was taught about ‘The Other,’ and to see what we have in common. That has been my biggest life lesson.”
